Scrapper is one of a kind in my book.  I purchased him as a pup from Roger Wagner.  I was 13 years old and full of fire to train my first dog.  We grew up together; I trained Scrap and he trained me how to train him.  There was nothing better as a young man spending the summer of 2006 training a dog morning and evening dreaming of being state and world champions.  All that hard work paid off.  The 2007 year was a breakthrough of the dreams I had.  We gathered many wins and many memories.  Scrapper taught me the joy of winning but the humbling truth of losing.  I (Matt) am now 18 and Scrapper is 5.  I am currently in college at Penn State Wilkes-Barre but Scrap and I enjoy teaming up every few weekends to hit the woods.  I will be entering Scrapper in a few competative hunt in 2011.

"The 2007 Most Championship Points Dog of the Year is Keystone State Scrapper, owned by Matt Boozer of New Bethlehem, PA. Scrapper's win was special for a different reason.  It is not unusual to see a youngster winning in competition.  It isn't uncommon for a young dog to win, either.  But when a 15-year-old boy wins as much as Matt has with Scrapper, a dog that's under two years old - a dog that he trained himself - his first squirrel dog - I think that is noteworthy.  Scrapper is a pup from Jay Overholt's Deadend Hawkeye and Tom Rodgers' outstanding female, the late Nolo Ridge Echo.  Scrapper and Matt will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.  Congratulations, Matt and Scrapper!"

How it all happened...

Roger Wagner had a outstanding female named Echo.  In May, 2005, he sold her to Tom Rodgers of Penn Run, PA.  Tom bred her to Jay Overholt's Deadend Hawkeye.  The Litter was born July 4, 2005 at Roger Wagner's Kennels.  We went up to see them once, but had no intentions on buying one.  When they were 9 weeks old, we went up to see them again.  Roger had two left.  The one he was keeping (named Wailen) and the other one was Scrapper.   It was meant to be.  We brought him to his new home two weeks later.  My brother and I split him 50/50 on ownership.  About 3 weeks later I bought Chris' share to make him 100% mine!  If you did or would hunt with this young dog,  you would find that he is fast, stay put tree dog.  His record shows that very simply. Scrapper is the real deal and is still young.  It’s a shame that he is already a SUPER GRAND SQUIRREL CHAMPION. Now I have to hunt someone else in the registered hunts.  So far, Scrapper has been breed 4 times and all litters are doing good. I anxiously wait to see how they turn out.

Here is myself recieving the 07 Ohio State Squirrel Champion Trophy.  I also won the Show and the Combination Trophies that day.  This was Scrapper's most impressive day up to that point.
